The Desktop Bleed is designed to be put on your desktop.

It provides a mix of changing graphics & historical dates I select from
time to time from the Daily Bleed.

Eventually, over time, the Desktop will change roughly once a week, or if I get ambitious,
everyday of the year.

Included is a link to the complete daily web page version
of the Daily Bleed, which I update every day just efore sending out the email version.

This provides a handy way to access any day's history, particularly for
those who enjoy reading the Bleed periodically,  rather than everyday,
or prefer not to subscribe to the daily emails I send out.

Windows users will find they can easily (maybe; see the caveat below) add the Desktop Bleed.

When you are viewing your Desktop
(you can resize this window so it's smaller so you can refer  to this page while working on the desktop),
in a blank area, right click on your mouse.

Click on Active Desktop.
Click on Customize My Desktop.
Click on the WEB Tab.
Click on New.

Cut & Paste in this web address:
http://recollectionbooks.com/bleed/desktopbleed.htm

Click OK button.
This should return you to the Web Tab where you were previously.

"The Desktop Daily Bleed"
should now be visible in the large white panel,
& should have a small square in front of it with a check mark in it
(click on the little box if it isn't checked),
& the sample monitor screen above should show
a grayed area where the Desktop Bleed will appear.

This is moveable/adjustable/resizeable to some degree...
The limitation being the size of the Desktop Bleed, which
I try to keep fairly uniform (taking up about 1/3 of width of the desktop.
I have my own versions on the right hand side of my desktop, for example,
with all my normal desktop file icons all to the left of the Desktop Bleed.

Click on the OK Button.

With any luck you've got the Bleed Desktop & you have it positioned where you want it, & sized (run your
mouse/cursor along the edge of the Desktop Bleed until you get the arrow symbol, which then allows you to grab the
edge & resize.

You may also have to "update" your desktop before the it
properly displays for the first time (or if
it appears blank at any later date).

To update, right click your mouse
Click Active Desktop
be sure Show Web Content is checked.
you may want to click Lock Desktop icons to keep them positioned where you have them.
click Synchronize to ensure the Desktop Bleed connection is set

Caveats: I have installed this Desktop on two computers, but they act differently on each,
& I am unable to do much with size; on one I cannot resize apparently from my original setting.
You may want to experiment until you get comfortable with what you can do.
You can always delete & start over.

As I find out more about how to control Active X on the desktop,
I will post further help in this file.

Below is an example of a typical Desktop Bleed.

When I change the Desktop Bleed images/text from time to time,
your desktop will automatically receive & display the new most current
one being posted online.
