Under this title, in the first number, we asked you to deliver your opinion concerning our effort to us: presentation of the review and its contents.
Much already answered us. Approvals are numerous, they form the unanimity almost answers. Some criticisms us were however addressed, very in a friendly way the majority, and of which we will hold account as far as possible.
In January, we wish to leave at all times to decide, we will bring to your attention the direction of these critics (of old and future) and we will make an effort is to agree that they are founded, that is to say to legitimate our way of seeing and of acting.
We however should explain you already how we write DEFENSE OF the MAN.
I addressed to comrades, having, the majority, a certain past, I subjected to them a plan of the review, indicated the ideas that I intended to recommend there, the points of view which I wanted to support there, the whole being brought back to defend the Man constantly -- the Man whatever his nationality, his race, its degree of evolution. --
If you agree, I have says to them, do not hesitate, come, collaborate without fear which your writings are ever deformed, censured.
They all are come -- others will come -- with their particular temperament and their own talent. And this collaboration gives the unit which you know.
I acknowledge you that certain collaborators made me tiquer. Undoubtedly, I approved the bottom of each article but not always the details.
Being sworn me never not to censure, I make confidence with the readers so that they operate themselves few useful corrections. I also make confidence with the writers, who would not be completely in the page after ten years of darkness, so that they understand that this review will not lead to its ends, the education of the individual and his defense, that if it is clear, categorical and clear on all the questions which it will tackle. I do not make the insult with any them believe that they could want to put in the embarrassment the old anarchist who I am and intends to remain, the unrepentant pacifist one which will never put the finger in the gears of the war.
If with long of the collaborators proved to be impossible because of tendencies incompatible with the already traced policy, I would say frankly it to them.
But, in this moment, DEFENSE OF the MAN is with his first steps, at the break-in period.
